Dear Early Childhood Colleagues:
“Plug In. Teach. Play. Learn.” is the theme for the 42nd Annual Conference on the Young Years (CYY). We are excited that you are able to join us at CYY as we recognize the important role you play in shaping Missouri’s future by working with young children and their families.
This year’s scheduled keynote speakers will be a creatively fun group that will have you laughing, singing and thinking about your role as an educator. The Pre-Conference on Thursday morning will start with Rae Pica, an early childhood education consultant specializing in children’s physical activity. Jim Cosgrove a.k.a Mr. Stinky Feet, will kick off the Conference on Thursday evening. Mr. Stinky Feet is a leader in children’s educational music and has been enjoyed for years by both children and early childhood professionals. Friday morning’s keynote address will be Dr. Rebecca Isbell; a consultant and author with numerous books and articles related to environments, play, literacy, creativity, music, and child development. We are very excited to have Dr. Jean Feldman return to Missouri. Dr. Jean has over 40 years of experience in education as a classroom teacher, author and consultant. In addition to a great lineup of keynote speakers we also welcome featured presentations from Dr. Brad Mears, Jill Molli, the St. Louis Zoo, Eileen Christelow and the St. Louis Science Center.
At this year’s conference we are delighted to celebrate a very important milestone for Missouri and the many families that have benefited from the wonderful work of Parents as Teachers. We invite everyone to join us as we recognize individuals who have been providing PAT services for 30 years. PAT started as a pilot program in four Missouri school districts and has grown into a program that is recognized not only nationally but internationally.
Thank you for considering CYY as part of your professional development plan. We have a wide variety of presentations that are sure to meet your needs. We are truly grateful to all of you for your incredible dedication to the field of early childhood. Take this time to plug in with colleagues so you will be rejuvenated to teach, play and learn with young children and their families. Thank you for choosing CYY!
